Music Routes

Sunday afternoon, 1:00 pm – 3 :00 pm

with Jim Welsh

Jim has been Secretary of Leith Folk Club, and previously Secretary of Edinburgh Jazz Projects, and through these and other organizations has been responsible for 70 – 120 gigs a year of varying sizes in Leith and Edinburgh for more years than he cares to (or can!) remember. He has also written for several specialist music magazines. He devised the format for Music Routes, and produces and presents the show each week.

It could be said that the idea of Music Routes is that it endeavours to cover the various routes taken by traditional celtic, European and American music, through the African influences of blues and jazz, on through rock’n’roll to what has been termed “world music” (like it’s going to come from somewhere else?) But to tell you the truth, it’s just a celebration of the genuine talents to be found both here and abroad, while we – and hopefully the listeners – have a good time. An ideal show is one where everyone listening hears and enjoys something or someone they’ve never heard before.

So trust us, we know what we’re doing, honest.
